Spanish luxury brand Loewe began as a fine leather goods shop in 1846 and their best known product today is one of their leather goods- the Loewe Puzzle Bag, simple in appearance but intensive in construction. Every brand likes talking about their commitment to craftsmanship, but Loewe takes it a step further with the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize and the Loewe School of Leather Craft.
Craftsmanship doesn’t end with leather goods for Loewe, as they show with their new collection of fragrances called The Crafted Collection. Loewe’s nose Nuria Cruelles describes the collection to be about modernizing traditional perfumery ingredients through the craftsmanship so integral to Loewe’s philosophy.
The launch of the collection comes with three new fragrances:
Loewe, The Crafted Collection

Loewe Roasted Vanilla
Notes
Cognac
Oak
Pink Pepper
Vanilla
The market may be saturated with vanilla perfumes, but Loewe say that the vanilla here would provide an out of the ordinary experience. We can expect to have a dry and animalic vanilla, its beloved creaminess blended with the wonderfully complex oak wood. The cognac note gives me hope for a deeply spiced fruity note with oaky nuances as cognac is usually aged in oak barrels.

Loewe Iris Root
Angelica Seed
Timut Pepper
Orris Root
Orris (or iris) is as traditional as it gets when it comes to perfume ingredients, prized for its sweet and earthy properties since before Ancient Roman and Greek periods. The addition of Timur Pepper is interesting in that it could be a zesty, grapefruit-like contrast to the powdery softness of the Orris. Angelica Seed would bring an herbaceous touch, and complement its peppery undertones with the Timur Pepper.

Loewe Bittersweet Oud
Notes
Perfumer Nuria Cruelles’ time in Dubai studying perfumery and discovering the nature of oud inspired her to create this fragrance. The resinous, woody depths of this note central to perfumery’s past, present and future combined with the bittersweet personality of the citrus atop.
The Craft Behind the Bottles

The sculptural bottles made especially for this line feature naturally formed bubbles you would find in handblown glass. Every brand tries its hand at creative bottles as the visual medium often helps sell the intangible sense of smell.
A lot of them miss the mark, creating terribly impractical bottles that are hard to display, harder to use, and prone to slipping through the fingers. Some have comically large bottle caps that make up most of the creativity, which most users would put away in a drawer somewhere to collect dust rather than add beauty to the bottle.
Loewe has balanced practicality with creative design and luxury. It adds an appearance of artisanry to what is most likely a mass produced set of bottles. A rare look in the current market, making it a design element that will attract attention without a kitschy trick that might be off-putting to some customers.
Made of granite, the bottle cap takes inspiration from the brand’s Spanish beginnings. The granite is beautifully textured and engraved on top is the Loewe logo. My assumption is that each cap would be unique as nature doesn’t mass produce its beautiful patterns. While going for tradition with the cap, they infuse it with modernity through a concealed magnet that’ll give you the satisfying snap when you close it.
The perfumes are priced at AED 1,790 for 100 ml bottles. You can find them in the UAE at Bloomingdale’s.
