Lattafa Asad Bourbon: Your New Favourite Lattafa Asad?

UAE-based perfume brand Lattafa first launched ambery fragrance Asad in 2021. Upon its success, they followed it up with the vanilla forward Asad Zanzibar in 2024. The newest addition to the Asad line is Asad Bourbon, a delicious cacao fragrance for the upcoming colder season. Here is how the three Asad perfumes compare…

Lattafa Asad

Notes

Top: Black Pepper, Tobacco and Pineapple

Middle: Patchouli, Coffee and Iris

Base: Vanilla, Amber, Dry Wood, Benzoin and Labdanum

The original Asad has a warm and spicy opening with a tangy touch from the pineapple. The spicy opening from the black pepper and earthy tobacco grows deeper with wear. The juicy fresh sweetness from pineapple transforms to a richer sweetness by way of the vanilla– ambery base. Sweetness never gets to be the focal point of the fragrance as the leathery notes of labdanum and the dry woody notes more than just balance it out. It earns a lot of comparisons to Dior’s Sauvage Elixir and while it isn’t 100% there, it’s a close budget alternative to the designer fragrance.

Lattafa Asad Zanzibar

Notes

Top: Black Pepper, Lavender

Middle: Coconut Water, Iris and Salt

Base: Vanilla and Incense

Asad Zanzibar is a coastal summer vacation in a bottle. Black pepper continues to add a fresh hot kick to this line, combining with the aromatic lavender to let Zanzibar stand out from its predecessor. You’ll feel the soft allure of vanilla and incense from the very beginning, from where it develops beautifully to the drydown. The coconut water is light, watery, and mildly sweet rather than the cloying sweetness one might expect from a coconut note. Along with the salt note, you’ll feel relaxed like you’re by the beach.

Lattafa Asad Bourbon

Notes

Top: Pink Pepper, Lavender, Mirabelle Plum

Middle: Cacao, Davana, Nutmeg

Base: Vetiver, Bourbon Vanilla, Amber

A gourmand for the winter with smooth cacao, combining with ambery sweetness and rich vanilla for a delicious perfume. The lavender at the top keeps it from becoming too sweet, giving it a bridge to the Zanzibar flanker. That being said, the fragrance is dominated by the vanilla and cacao combo. It’s more of a mass appealing scent in the gourmand era as compared to the previous Asad perfumes.
