Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fruity Scandal

The newest additions to the Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal line is two fruity perfumes.

The honeyed sweetness of Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal made it a popular fragrance since it was launched in 2017. Since then, we’ve had Scandal for men, different concentrations, other flankers including So Scandal, Scandal by Night, Scandal Gold, and many more. The scent of the original JPG Scandal can also be found in their hair mist, lotion, and shower gels. The newest flankers coming out in a matter of days are Scandal Elixir and Scandal Pour Homme Elixir, fruity iterations of the original.

Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Elixir

Fragrance Family

Fruity Chypre

Notes

Top: Blackberry

Middle: Iris

Base: Patchouli

Scandal Elixir goes for blackberry as its opening fruit like many fruity chypres (like Dior’s newest Miss Dior Essence) do. The iris is present to add a soft touch to the bright opening. To ground the scent is an earthy patchouli with its addictive and sensual characteristic.

The bottle is the classic Scandal silhouette with the golden legs and the juice is a deep yet vibrant brown that fits the elixir imagery.

Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Pour Homme Elixir

Fragrance Family

Fruity Amber

Notes

Top: Black Cherry

Middle: Patchouli

Base: Tonka Bean

Black cherry replaces blackberry in the men’s iteration of the perfume, offering a sweet tartness as blackberry, but with the added intrigue of a mild nuttiness and smoothness. Black cherry is often used in perfumery to create a mysterious allure, fitting for the character of a perfume collection named Scandal. The patchouli continues on to the pour homme, the throughline that adds richness. The tonka creates a warm, sweet base, warranting the elixir name.
