Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga founded his fashion house in 1917 and 30 years later, introduced the house’s first fragrance to the market. Le Dix, French for ‘The Ten’, was named after 10 Avenue George V in France where the first Balenciaga salon and atelier was located. Almost 10 years after Balenciaga’s last perfume (B. Balenciaga Intense, 2016), the house has launched a new collection named Le Dix comprising 10 unisex perfumes. It’s like the stars have aligned for Balenciaga fragrances at just the right time.
Balenciaga’s fragrances are part of the recent deal between Kering and L’Oreal.

Crystallized French Seaweed
The fragrance honours Cristóbal Balenciaga’s coastal Spanish origins with its marine character. Balenciaga call it Neo Marine. In all, it is supposed to evoke a sunny coastal area with its bright citruses with salty touches. It’s a fairly simple construction, light and easy to wear.

Vanilla Absolute
Musk
Amber
As suggested by the name, this is a perfume intended to be worn 24/7. It is supposed to be calming yet addictive as is the nature of vanilla. Balenciaga say it will wrap you in a cocoon of vanillic-woodiness. A fairly simple fragrance from the description alone, so it makes one wonder if it’s worth the price tag when vanilla fragrances are dime-a-dozen these days…

White Floral Notes
To Be Confirmed is a light floral fragrance with an exclusive tulip accord developed exclusively for Balenciaga. It uses a silverneedle tea accord, a delicate and creamy variety of white tea with floral nuances to blend with the tulip accord and fruity, herbaceous, and even grassy touches. There is an accord of white florals that might be tuberose. Altogether, an interesting and nuanced floral.

Musky Floral
Notes
South American Ambrette Seed
Iris
Musky
Balenciaga call it “sensual and primal like a bold, kohl-rimmed gaze”. The powdery iris evokes memories of oldschool make-up which often used iris for its soft and sweet touches. Iris also brings an earthy and woody touch. There’s a leathery-spicy haze in the background like a new leather wallet. This leathery touch adds to the sensual touch brought by the ambrette seed accord.

Aldehydic Floral
Notes

Orris
Aldehydes
Violet Leaf
Frankincense
Le Dix pays homage to the original Le Dix (1947) that began Balenciaga’s fragrance journey. The original was an aldehydic fragrance that came hot on the heels of the OG aldehyde Chanel No. 5. It isn’t an exact replication of the original, but takes inspiration and delivers on the oldschool feeling with the iris-orris while also feeling modern. There is a sweetness and depth brought by the frankincense and watery freshness from the violet leaf.

Damasc Rose
100% is 100% rose. Pure, strong concoction of every personality rose puts on in classic rose fragrances. It exudes all the glamour or rose with a metallic edge. There’s earthy-green facets, cold and wet facets, and a dark sort of sweetness for a luxurious feeling.

Extra
Extra is a little extra with its spices, especially the kick of hot pepper partnering with black pepper. A honeyed floral that feels eternal and so grounded with its earthiness makes the fragrance complex. Dry and herbaceous, immortelle adds a unique floral touch to this spiced woody creation.

Notes
Assafi Oud
Patchouli
Oakmoss
Named after the house’s founder Cristóbal Balenciaga, Cristóbal is a deep patchouli-oud combination. The oud has a leathery profile with some ambery depth. Cristóbal (2025) is not to be confused with previous fragrances from the house with the same name.

Notes
Frankincense
Cedarwood
Spanish Labdanum Resin
The deepest, most mysterious fragrance in the Le Dix collection, Incense Perfumum uses a blend of three frankincense oils to join the labdanum resin and a cedarwood base. Though deep and ambery, the perfume manages to let its fresher sides shine just as bright in the composition.
The entire collection offers refills, adding the vintage-looking modern bottles to the growing list of refillable perfumes. Keep up with more scented stories on Perfume Mag.
