10 Parfums de Marly Perfumes that Deserve your Attention

Parfums de Marly began in 2009 with the royal luxuries of the pre-French Revolution Château de Marly as inspiration. The chateau was located close to the Palace of Versailles and served as a retreat for royals. What could be a more opulent source of inspiration than the memory of lives so extravagant it changed the political landscape of a country?

Delina

Key Notes: Rose, Lychee, Peony, Vanilla, Cashmeran

Fragrance Family: Fruity Floral

There’s nothing that I can say about Delina that hasn’t already been said. Delina took a classic note of perfumery and popularized it when younger people were beginning to push it away as mature and old-fashioned. Watery sweet lychee and the uniquely green and spicy sweet rhubarb make for an opening that sets Delina apart as a more interesting rose perfume.

Its popularity has led to the creation of three flankers: Delina Exclusif and Delina La Rosée, and also scented personal care products like the hair perfume, shower gel, body cream, and hand cream. It has become the Parfums de Marly fragrance. It’s a great choice for when you want everyday excellence in your fragrance.

Valaya

Key Notes: White Peach, Orange Blossom, Nympheal, Musk, Akigalawood

Fragrance Family: Floral Musky Woody

Created at the peak of the clean girl era, Valaya is a delicate, feminine fragrance. It is primarily musky, highlighting a feeling of soft cotton against softer skin. With a base as soft as cotton and top notes bright and lively with sweet and citrusy fruits, Valaya is beautiful in its simplicity. Its flanker from 2025, Valaya Exclusif, is a more powdery-almondy take on the original.

The Valaya scent is also available in a hair perfume. Though it can be worn daily, I can see this as a bridal perfume for the minimalist bride.

Layton

Key Notes: Apple, Lavender, Geranium, Jasmine, Patchouli

Fragrance Family: Amber Floral

One of the most popular men’s fragrance from Parfums de Marly, Layton uses the masculine floral lavender with jasmine and the aromatic geranium. Crisp apple and a burst of pepper give a bright contrast to the deep patchouli-vanilla base for a special fragrance that feels both nostalgic and novel at once.

It has the markings of a special occasion perfume for the man who doesn’t really want to go all out or be too different from how he presents himself on a daily basis.

Althaïr

Key Notes: Cinnamon, Bourbon Vanilla, Praline, Elemi, Gaiac Wood

Fragrance Family: Warm Spicy Gourmand

Of all Parfums de Marly creations, Althaïr is easily my favourite. It popularizes gourmands for men with a men’s cologne-like addition to a fresher, but no less gorgeous vanilla. It’s smooth, magnetic and will make the most mundane of days special. The performance is wonderful, projecting well and lasting quite long. Though it is marketed as a men’s fragrance, it is quite unisex. Layered with a simple vanilla fragrance, it becomes smoother and more delicious.

Carlisle

Key Notes: Nutmeg, Saffron, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Vanilla, Sandalwood

Fragrance Family: Spicy Sweet

It may not be as talked about as more popular PdM men’s perfumes like Layton, Althaïr, Sedley, Greenley, etc. but it is one of their best and most unique. It balances both warm and fresh elements of spices through nutmeg and saffron on a sweet opoponax base. The patchouli and vanilla are most prominent, forming the rich character of the fragrance. It doesn’t have the universal appeal of the others, so wearing it for a formal occasion will give you an air of elegance that presents you as someone different in a crowd.

Oriana

Key Notes: Grapefruit, Orange Blossom, Blackcurrant, Marshmallow, Chantilly Cream

Fragrance Family: Fruity Floral Gourmand

Oriana stands out in its bolder, sweeter femininity among the lighter classic pinks of Delina that made PdM popular. Airy marshmallow and a silky smooth chantilly cream comforts you with the fruits adding a different kind of sweetness atop. With the popularity of fruity gourmands in 2026, Oriana was ahead of its time and perfect for you to follow the trend without buying an untested new release. If Delina is a classy women’s fragrance, Oriana is her modern counterpart who has never heard of shyness.

Herod

Key Notes: Tobacco Leaf, Vanilla, Incense, Cinnamon, Woody Accord

Fragrance Family: Smoky Sweet

Tobacco and Vanilla have become a modern classic combination ever since Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanilla and no one’s happier about it than I. Herod blends a smoky vanilla with cinnamon and tobacco. The tobacco is sweet and dry with a pleasant bitterness and something that feels vaguely chemical. There are floral hints that come and go from osmanthus and labdanum, their leathery nuances pairing well with tobacco.

It’s great for the colder days, a charming addition to your everyday routine.

Cassili

Key Notes: Plum, Frangipani, Mimosa, White Florals, Sandalwood

Fragrance Family: Fruity Florals

Cassili is velvety soft with bright but not loud fruity facets. It’s a lovely summer perfume that enchants with bright tropical fruits and multidimensional florals that offer everything including powdery, green, citrusy, rosy elements. The creamy sandalwood drydown makes Cassili the right feminine fragrance for someone who wants to be different without calling much attention to it.

As an understated fragrance, it has the drawback of disappearing faster than other perfumes on this list. But that also makes it apt for your everyday workplace perfume rotation.

Sedley

Key Notes: Aquatic Notes, Spearmint, Solar Notes, Incense, Cedarwood

Fragrance Family: Aquatic Fresh

With the fizz of a lemony soda, Sedley is cooling with minty notes and bright as the summer sun. In its light, watery character, it is the perfect daytime wear that you’ll reach for every morning. It doesn’t last long enough, but of course, it’s a fresh blue and is designed to make you smell good without much fuss. It’s the perfect clean laundry scent for men.

Haltane

Key Notes: Lavender, Clary Sage, Praline, Oud, Cedar

Fragrance Family: Woody Aromatic Fougère

If you like elevated barbershop fougères like PdM’s own Valero but want to pair it with the rich smoothness of what the Maison did with Althaïr, Haltane is right there. It is not the most popular from the brand, but definitely one of their most interesting compositions. It contains all the sophistication of oud with the intrigue of saffron, and the aromatic-herbal nuances of lavender and clary sage.

If you’re looking for a blend that confounds and comforts, a gift for someone always on the search for the unusual in perfumery, look no further.
