Nutty fragrances are truly versatile. They can be sweet, creamy, bitter, spicy, powdery, and so much more depending on the composition they’re brought into. Some of them feel crunchy, like you can take a bite into it and some are soft and smooth like you could melt in their decadence. These are the best nutty fragrances:
The Best Pistachio Perfume
DS&Durga Pistachio
Key accords: nutty, woody, patchouli
Unisex
The green earthy nuttiness of pistachios has found a perfect representative in DS&Durga’s Pistachio. It’s patchouli heavy, much like the beloved pistachio patchouli Mugler Angel Stellar. So if you love a patchouli based gourmand, you will love this perfume. It gets a soft, mildly sweet nutty and creamy accord from the combination of almond and vanilla. It’s a good wear for winter and nights.
The Best Hazelnut Perfume
Arabian Eagle Hind
Key accords: nutty, vanilla, creamy
Feminine
It’s time to pack up the gourmand trend because Arabian Eagle has perfected it. Hind is as pretty and princessy as the bottle, the hazelnut is a gourmand with a distinct nuttiness characterized by woody tones. It’s mildly sweet and has a cosy feeling about it. The incense at the top gives the hazelnut a smoky, roasted personality that makes the fragrance feel so deep and rich. At first, you get a peachy fruitiness that fades away to make for a classic rose and jasmine that goes beautifully with coconut.
It lasts forever too. When I tested it, it stayed on the shirt the entire day, transforming wonderfully and making for a great sensory experience.
The Best Chestnut Perfume
Dries Van Noten Soie Malaquais
Key accords: fruity, nutty, spicy, floral
Unisex
I judge the book by the cover and I’m not ashamed to say it. The perfume is as beautiful as this masterpiece of a bottle, feeling deep and luxurious. The sophistication comes mostly from the chestnut and cacao combination. It’s smooth, warm and cosy. The silk accord adds to the sensuality along with a velvety soft rose. It’s saying something that the nutty base is more enjoyable for me than the blackcurrant opening, my personal favorite fruity note.
The Best Walnut Perfume
Toskovat’ Forlorn Embers & Black Reigns
Key accords: woody, nutty, sweet
Unisex
Toskovat’ never fails to impress with fragrances that expertly capture very specific emotions and events. Usually they tend to be dark and melancholic feelings, but this one’s their rare positive one. Forlorn Embers & Black Reigns feels like a memory of a campfire with friends- drinking, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores outside a wood cabin.
The Best Pecan Perfume
The Merchant of Venice Venetian Jade
Key accords: woody, floral, nutty
Unisex
Venetian Jade is truly slept on as a fragrance. The first spritz feels like cracking open a pecan shell and savoring it immediately– it’s nutty, sweet, and soft in a way that pecans that have been long outside their shells aren’t. The fragrance becomes a spicy floral with time, settling into the unique savory fruity fragrance of kumbaru. I’ve never smelled kumbaru in perfumes before and enjoyed how nutty and earthy it was. It combines uniquely with the woody base too.
The Best Almond Perfume
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum
Key accords: amber, nutty, spicy
Unisex
Almond is the most common nutty accord you’ll see in perfumes. There wasn’t going to be any other perfume in the almond category after BR 540 entered the market. It enjoys popularity for a reason and that’s its divine combination of almond and saffron. It feels indulgent yet like warm homey comfort. It’s heavy, creamy, and no matter the sudden surge of dislike for it, I will always find it a beautiful fragrance.
