Tom Holland Named Ambassador for Prada Paradigme

Zendaya’s fiance and Spiderman actor Tom Holland has been announced as the Ambassador for Prada Paradigm, the fashion house’s upcoming men’s fragrance.

It’s exciting to see Tom Holland explore his fashionable side following in Zendaya’s footsteps. While Zendaya is impeccably styled by Law Roach, Tom is styled by Law’s protegee Crystalle Cox. He has taken a step further in representing a perfume as Zendaya famously represents Lancôme’s Idôle.

Tom Holland has frequently worn Prada on the red carpet, making him a good fit to represent the brand. He’s worn Prada suits– a double breasted wool jacket to the premiere of ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ and a green suit to ‘The Crowded Room’ (for his birthday!). But he also chooses them for his more casual looks like the time he matched Zendaya’s burgundy Luis Vuitton dress with a burgundy t-shirt.

It’s not just his affinity for Prada that makes him a good fit; it’s their philosophy for the fragrance. Prada Paradigme, following in the footsteps of the women’s Prada Paradoxe, intends to be different. While Paradoxe was meant to represent the paradoxical nature of womanhood, Paradigme is meant to “present a new perspective on masculinity by blending elements of curiosity, softness, and individuality”. A perfume that hopes to show a paradigm shift in masculinity as opposed to its modern day representation in popular culture. The fragrance will come in refill bottles too for those of you who enjoy it enough to repurchase.

Tom Holland is a versatile actor and artist. He began dancing at the age of nine, going on to train in the female dominated ballet, tap dancing, and acrobatics. He debuted as a stage actor at the age of 13, as a voice actor at 15 and a film actor at 16. Tom finds himself in popular Superhero movies (where he met his fiancee) but also in character films, showing more of his versatility. It’s easy to see how Prada chose him to represent curiosity and individuality.

Prada Paradigme is set to be released on 18th August and this is what we know so far:

Notes

Top: Calabrian Bergamot

Middle: Bourbon Geranium

Base: Peru Balm Absolute, Benzoin Resin, Guaiac Wood

Tom says he isn’t big on perfumes but likes how it can make a person feel confident. He finds Paradigme complex, saying it’s both fresh and warm at the same time. While this isn’t rare for perfumes these days, the combination in the base notes is somewhat unique for a men’s fragrance. While I have seen the same notes at the base a few other times, they have been in partnership with many other notes.

The base is ambery and woody, the heart has geranium with a somewhat rosy nuance and the top is solid with bergamot but nothing revolutionary. I do want to add that we may not have the full information as Prada’s Global President Yann Andrea only said the top note includes bergamot, not that it’s the only one.

Paradigme’s creators Marie Salamagne, Bruno Jovanovic, and Nicolas Bonneville have created a fresh, green, balsamic fragrance for men. It doesn’t sound like a huge paradigm shift from the little we know but I hope to be proven wrong when the fragrance actually comes out. If not, I would still be happy with a good men’s fragrance. A good fragrance doesn’t have to break barriers or change perfumery forever. That’s not what most customers would be looking for.

People simply want a fragrance that makes them feel good and if Tom Holland is to be believed, Prada Paradigme succeeds.
