Heading into the new year, you might want some luck by your side. Lalique’s new collaboration with luxury Japanese jewelry house Mikimoto brings us 10 exclusive bottles of Fortune Leaves Crystal Edition. This is the first product of their collaboration since their 2023 fragrance license.
Lalique has a long history of crystal-making, spanning a wide range of objects from home decor and jewelry to perfume bottles. Their other notable artistic collaboration in the realm of perfume bottles was forLalique x James Turrell Range Rider. While that perfume is limited to 100 bottles, the Mikimoto fragrance is limited to just 10.
The bottles are bauble shaped, quite festive whether or not it was intended. Mikimoto founder Kokichi Mikimoto was the first to create the world’s first cultured pearls (pearls made with human intervention) and have created pearl jewelry since 1893.

The design is inspired by an earlier collaboration between Lalique and Mikimoto— a clover leaf chandelier for the Mikimoto bridal salon in Tokyo, symbolizing good fortune. Pearl is at the heart of the design of Fortune Leaves Crystal Edition. The pearl-like top is surrounded by clover leaves. The base is all hand-blown into the custom mould and the top is created with the traditional technique called ‘lost wax technique’. Designed by Lalique Artistic Director Marc Larminaux, each bottle is handcrafted with care and precision. Among a field of clovers surrounding the pearl is one four-leaf clover, a sign of good luck.

As much as I love artistically crafted perfume bottles, I am more concerned with what’s inside…
